Did you know? The acknowledgment is the most commonly performed notarial act. You will learn the proper steps in taking an acknowledgment, including the spoken as well as the written parts, in Lesson 3 of our online course. This is just one example of what you'll learn with us.
Here are a few other helpful things to know:
• The online course material is divided into seven lessons along with a glossary and two interactive 40-question practice exams.
• The seven lessons are: Introduction; Qualifications & Appointment; Acknowledgments; Oaths, Affirmations & Affidavits; Other Notarial Duties; Restrictions; and, Misconduct & Penalties. They are formatted for easy reading on your computer screen. If printed, the lessons amount to 50 pages.
• This course will help you focus on the terms, concepts and procedures you specifically need to know when taking the Notary Public Exam, and to begin serving competently in your new public and professional role.

This class helps you prepare for the New York State Notary Public Examination and provides you with a comprehensive view of the notary public office. Confusing laws, concepts and procedures are clearly explained, and examples are given to illustrate situations that a notary is likely to encounter. Topics include avoiding conflicts of interest, maintaining professional ethics, charging proper fees, when to defer to an attorney and minimizing legal liability. Learn how to properly execute acknowledgments and affidavits, and how to administer oaths and affirmations, as well as inform yourself about what you cannot do as a notary within New York State, such as performing marriages or certifying copies of public records. A "prep" course such as this one is a must for notary candidates to become fully aware of the authority, duties, and responsibilities relating to this important public office. We believe we have the best instructors, online course and live classroom sessions available to New York notary candidates!

The online course material is essentially the same as what is given at our 3-hour live program. We are currently presenting notary seminars at Columbia-Greene Community College, Schenectady County Community College, SUNY Adirondack and the Knowledge Network.

We provide you with sample forms (an acknowledgment certificate, affidavit and more) to print out and follow along with the lessons in step-by-step fashion, as though you were actually sitting in our classroom.

While a seat at our live program runs from $75 to $100, the online version is only $29. "O.K.," you might say, "That sounds fine — I will save money by taking the class online, even though I would prefer live classroom interaction. But how much are the mandatory State fees that I must pay to become a notary?" Answer: Whether you choose a live classroom session or the online version from providers like us, there is a separate $15 testing fee payable to the State. After getting a passing grade on the exam, you'll pay the State another $60 for registration, good for FOUR years ($15/year).

Onward and Upward...

2nd AnniversaryAs you can see from the comments listed above, many good things have been said about our notary programs, including the online version, which is our newest offering. The online course was launched on October 1, 2011 to reach a wider audience across the entire State of New York; we are now celebrating the website's second anniversary! You might be interested to know that the lessons are updated on an ongoing basis, in real time, to keep pace with changing laws, clarify application procedures and address frequently asked questions. Therefore, our materials are more up-to-date than anything you are likely to encounter in traditional formats such as printed textbooks.
The overall learning experience of our N.Y. Notary Public Online Seminar is as personalized as you would like it to be. Please remember you can feel free to contact me at any time. My telephone number is provided to you upon enrolling in the course. I also communicate via Skype. FYI, we have now prepared a second set of sample test questions and, as a result, there are two practice exams with 40 questions each, for a total of 80 questions! The extra questions are included in the online seminar package as an added bonus. Other improvements are in the "pipeline". We would like to publish a series of video clips to supplement the written course materials.
Once you have taken the live program or the online course, or both, and if you would like to share your comments, we want to hear from you. We enjoy hearing the success stories of candidates who, with a little help from us, have gone forth to earn passing grades on the state-administered exam, and become duly commissioned (i.e., licensed) notaries. Please email feedback@NotaryEd.Com. Thank you!
Sincerely,
Steven E. Williams
